My Story
10 years ago, I was fully in that hustle life, working and living in NYC. Exhausted. Disconnected. Depleted. Anxious. Constipated. A past history of disordered eating that threatened to bubble to the surface with every work or relationship stress I faced. I knew something had to change.
In 2019, I got certified to teach yoga, and in the mornings and evenings I rushed between the studio and the office. I felt alive and fulfilled for the first time in years. And then the stars aligned to find me leaving my corporate job and moving to a beach town in Mexico.
Against the backdrop of the jungle and the Pacific Ocean, I found space and silence to begin to listen to what my body had been trying to tell me for years, but had gotten drowned out in the chaos. I slowed down. I taught yoga full-time and studied Ayurveda. I watched the sun rise and set. I found joy in simplicity. I ate fresh, local food. I started pooping regularly (I know!). I felt myself shifting out of survival mode.
And guess what? It’s not always all turmeric and sunrise meditations. Sometimes I still have a margarita and dance the night away with friends. And that’s ok. The Ayurveda I live isn’t about restriction and perfection, but balance. Along the way, I’ve learned to listen to my body, understand what supports me, and create a way of living that feels nourishing and joyful.
